Usui Reiki I & II
Certification Class

Usui Reiki I & II is an immersive introductory training designed for those seeking personal healing, spiritual development, or a path into professional Reiki practice. Offered both in-person and online, this two-day experience serves as the foundation of your Reiki journey.

The class is taught by internationally respected Reiki Master Lisa StarAhna, who brings nearly four decades of experience guiding students in both the practice and teaching of Reiki. Her approach creates a supportive, grounded environment where students can learn with confidence.

Throughout the training, participants engage in live instruction, guided placements (commonly known as attunements), hands-on practice, and interactive discussion. Students learn how to work with Reiki energy for self-care, in-person sessions, and distance healing. The curriculum integrates traditional Japanese Reiki methods with contemporary Western techniques, providing a well-rounded and practical understanding of this healing modality.

Upon completion of the course, students receive a Professional Practitioner Certificate from the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Graduates leave with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to begin practicing Reiki right away—whether for personal use or as a professional offering. No prior experience is necessary, and the class is open to all.

Additional Class Details

Day One: Foundations of Reiki Practice

Begin your training by exploring what Reiki is, how it supports the body’s natural healing response, and how it can be integrated into everyday life for greater balance and well-being.

You’ll learn about the origins of Reiki, including its development in Japan, and how it is used today within holistic wellness, complementary care, and modern therapeutic settings.

During the first day, you will receive your Level I placement (attunement), opening your ability to work with Reiki energy.

Students are introduced to traditional practices such as Gassho meditation, a centering technique taught by Dr. Mikao Usui, designed to cultivate focus, presence, and inner calm.

You will also learn Byosen scanning, a Japanese method used to sense energetic imbalances within the body and aura, along with techniques for clearing and balancing energy.

Hands-on instruction includes how to:

  • Perform a complete self-Reiki session

  • Work with energy awareness and scanning techniques

  • Support chakra balance and overall energetic alignment

Additionally, you’ll practice Kenyoku (dry bathing), a technique used to strengthen your personal energy field and release energy that does not belong to you.

Day Two: Expanding Your Reiki Skills

On the second day, your practice deepens as you are introduced to the three Reiki Level II symbols—powerful tools used to focus intention and enhance your work with Reiki energy.

You will receive your Level II placement (attunement), strengthening your connection and attuning you to the use of these traditional Usui Reiki symbols.

This portion of the training focuses on practical application, including how to:

  • Incorporate Reiki symbols into sessions for yourself and others

  • Work more effectively with intention and energy flow

  • Expand your ability to channel Reiki through techniques such as Gyoshi-ho (focused gaze method)

You’ll also learn how to perform distance Reiki, using specific methods and symbols to offer sessions beyond physical proximity.

To support those interested in sharing Reiki with others, the course also covers:

  • How to document sessions

  • How to explain Reiki in a clear and accessible way

  • How to communicate its potential benefits to clients, friends, or those new to the practice

A comprehensive 125-page training manual is included with the course, providing a valuable resource for continued learning and home study after the class is complete.

At the conclusion of the two-day training, students are awarded a Professional Practitioner Certificate from the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), recognizing their completion of Reiki Levels I & II.

By the end of the weekend, you will leave with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to offer effective Reiki sessions for yourself and others, whether for personal use or as the foundation of a professional practice.
